2011 was a crazy year both personally and professionally. On the downer note my parents house had a fire and needs to be restored, my step-daughter had to get cured off the wild turkey (again), and Jen needs surgery on her wrist. In happier news my business had its best year ever, we snowboarded 25 days this year and took several vacations, and Jen is getting down to about 50 hours of work a week. Jen and I tried a juice fast in 2011 for about 30 days it was amazing. We bought some crap and paid off some debt. I transitioned from being a programmer to managing projects. Parker grew out his hair and Lulu… well she is just as insane and gassy as ever. Happy New Years everyone, may 2012 be a great one for you!
How Jen of Seattle Green Cleaner got her life back.
18 months ago Seattle Green Cleaner, a local house cleaning company owned by Jen Troyer, was a one person cleaning crew. Today she has 7 full time employees, is no longer cleaning houses herself, and is expanding while maintaining her great quality of service. That type of growth was only possible by Jen working tirelessly day and night. But with each hire came more time needed for giving cleaning quotes, scheduling, payroll/mileage calculation, and other day to day operations. She didn’t have much time for big picture activities such as marketing, company structure, and accounting. After seeing her work 16 hour days I new something had to change. We started to refine her methodologies and leveraged technology to solve some issues. Scheduling move from Excel to Google Calendars accessible by company phones. Accounting moved from Excel to Quickbooks. We create Google Documents for company manuals and training material. Google maps took care of mileage calculation. We created a satisfaction survey on her website. And finally, the biggest contributor to her success was some search engine optimization and a terrific Quote Form. After a few months of tweaking the SEO her site she began to consistently show up in the top 10 for the keywords we targeted. In addition, over 80% of new clients came from users searching for a cleaner on the web. Some of these came from review websites like Yelp, Angieslist, and Google Places. She has great reviews from her customers on these websites and that really helps. Today Seattle Green Cleaner is one of the most successful (and highest rated) Green cleaning company in the Greater Seattle Area. Its nice when I see a local company succeed as much as she has.

Noah Britton in 2010
Life is crazy busy good. Jen’s business www.seattlegreencleaner.com has really taken off… she now has 6 employees. Our kids (Sarah & Parker) are doing well we are trying to make it out to do fun stuff ever week and having a nice dinner/movie night every Thursday. My business opportunities are exploding right now. Summer is upon us and the family is going whale watching in July and the kids are going to do a helicoptor tour of Seattle. Jen and I are planning our annual trip to Jamaica and this time are taking friends! My cousin JD is playing a show in June and coming to visit. Mom and Karen are selling their house/business and moving to France next year. I’m 35! If you are an old friend looking to get back into contact with me hit me up on Facebook.
Cheers!

Noah Britton of Seattle got married!
I married my soulmate, Jennifer Troyer on November 6h 2008 on a sunny beach in Jamaica.
Update from Noah
Jen and I just had our six month wedding anniversary. Things are good: her business is booming, we are loving our new flagstone patio, going on a houseboat for a week in August that is going to be sweet, kids are good, family is good. We are still very much in love and I’m glad we waited three years and lived together for most of that time before I popped the question. She is the only person that has really understood me (and can put up with my crap)…. and vice versa. Our honeymoon in Jamaica was amazing, our reception was a blast, and we have a lot of love and support from our friends and family. Our english bulldog Lulu is my little baby and I like to spoon with her. Jen likes to joke that I molest the dog. I mean she is a pretty sexy little beast.
New DataFusion Systems website
The website for my side business, DataFusion Systems, just got a facelift and some new functionality. I outsourced the design and HTML development this time as my 8-5 job has been keeping me too busy. I used a pretty sweet jQuery image slider for my portfolio piece. I’ve also recently converted my company to a S-Corp. Business is good I’ve had to stop networking since my workload has been too high but it will be nice to have a website that I’m proud of.
